Food journeys, conscious consumerism, studying Karl Maughan a New Zealand artist that loves garden, and bees we love researching about bees and are set to make our bee cafe Its been a buzzy bee term.
Kia Ora, Term 2 was a big term. We learnt about water problems and how to solve them through the Stanford design model-https://dschool.stanford.edu/groups/k12/wiki/17cff/ by learning about simple machines. We thought of an incline plane with a catchment to stop waste going into our drains and polluting our water. We made our lego models of our own MOTAT! We have also being doing a lot of drama this term and had Todd Rippon an actor from LOTR come to talk to us about acting. And we have been doing beautifying collaborative projects with Room 25, growing tulips, painting bricks and making areas beautiful like our courtyard beautiful so people look after them and not trash them.
Our Rich Task in Term 4 Was Story Telling: our fertile question was who keeps the story alive? We discovered that you can keep a story alive in many different ways, through dance, art, poetry, oral language, and written form. We also studied John Pule as an artist and story teller. John Pule is a Nuiean born artist who has lived in Aotearoa- New Zealand since he was 3 year old. We loved learning about his art and creating our interpreted piece of his called Hake aga Patopato. We told our own stories using symbols of our grandparents, childhood, living in auckland and school life- a Story Board worth reading!
